New Year, New Gallery
We decided to start 2017 with a revamp – nothing like starting the year as you mean to go on! With the help of one of our popular artists, Neil McBride, we installed a new hanging system, which is, of course, a much easier and more attractive way of displaying wall art.
We also took the opportunity to change our display and relaxation space. Now the couch is more central and more inviting. Customers can sit and browse through the art books on the coffee table and take in the ambience.
The re-arrangement of our display units has added more interest and has even created more space! Consequently a new unit is on the cards.
We are extremely happy with the results and hope you are too. Come visit us soon!
The ‘Just a Card’ Campaign
Sarah Hamilton, an artist and designer based in London, along with MollieMakes and The Design Trust started a wonderful campaign some time ago which is really starting to gain momentum. It is known as ‘Just a Card.’
When Sarah called for volunteers to help with the campaign on Social Media a few months ago, over fifty eager people responded. Now there is a team of eight people dotted over the U.K. helping to spread the ‘Just a Card’ message, along with many very supportive artists, makers, galleries and independent shop owners.
I am very proud to say that I am one of the aforementioned volunteers. I volunteered because I firmly believe in the campaign’s message. We need to support originality and design and independent shops in order to keep our High Streets vibrant and our Market Towns thriving. Please join us in our crusade!
‘Just a Card’ could also be ‘Just a Coffee,’ ‘Just a Cake,’ ‘Just a Trinket’ ‘Just a ….’ It is really about making any small purchase to help keep independent businesses open and trading successfully.
Visit www.justacard.org for more details, to download posters and leaflets or to add buttons of support on your website. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@justacard1) and Instagram too!
Our First Birthday
What a wonderful time we had on 14th May when we celebrated our first birthday!
It was an extremely busy day. The prosecco flowed and the leaping hare cookies went down well too. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and many new ones. We were delighted to have our two felt artists visiting. Pam Chilton and Rachel Morley’s art sells extremely well and is always popular. They are pictured proudly holding some of their work.
We also had Jane Kitching painting in the window. It was interesting to witness the different techniques she uses to create the lovely effects for which her happy, colourful paintings are known.
Here’s to many more successful years selling original British art in Easingwold! If you haven’t visited us yet, please visit soon. We have several new artists we’d like to introduce to you.
